The Aquaman Shrine's Twitter Feed (run by Shrine Correspondent Joe Slab) is well on its way to its 500th follower. We're having a teeny tiny contest, awarding a prize (TBD) to the Aqua-Fan who ends up being #500!
But did you know you don't have to sign up with Twitter to follow the Shrine's Twitter feed? It's true! Here's a message from Joe:
"You do not need to have an active twitter account to catch up on tweets from the Aquaman Shrine. Simply go to twitter.com and type "aquamanshrine" (no spaces) into the search twitter field and hit enter. All tweets from or mentioning the Aquaman Shrine will display in order from most recent to older.
Now you will no longer have an excuse for not checking in, and of course if you like what you find, please consider signing up for twitter and following the Aquaman Shrine as a regular tweep. Our 500th verified follower will receive an Aqua-gift pack courtesy of the Aquaman Shrine!"
Before Joe took over, the Shrine's feed was just a mirror of the Shrine's Facebook page. But thanks to Joe, the Shrine has a real, distinct presence on Twitter, and I couldn't be happier about it!

Our Numbers Are Legion
As you can well imagine, the internets were all, ahem, atwitter with the news that Geoff Johns will be writing a new Aquaman solo series, which he announced at the MegaCon on Saturday.
While its never been the Shrine's mission to "break" news, I am quite proud that, for a few hours, this site was one of only a tiny handful of places on the internet that this amazing piece of news could be found (at one point on Saturday night, looking for further verification of the story, I googled it, only to find the Shrine's post at the top!).
The Shrine could not have done so without the invaluable help of F.O.A.M.er Joe Slab, who scours the web for Aqua-news with speed and dedication that rivals my own efforts here. It was Joe who sent me the first two tweets that announced the big news, and continued to try and get "official" verification even after I put up my post.
To that end, Joe will be joining me on the Aquaman Shrine's Twitter feed, continuing to search for breaking Aqua-news and giving the Shrine more of a presence there, something I've wanted to do for a while but just haven't had the time to tackle.
I'm thrilled that there is now so much Aquaman stuff to cover that the Shrine is taking on additional "correspondents", each devoted to some specific corner of Aqua-fandom. I think this is going to make the Aquaman Shrine an even better, more useful place to visit!
Welcome aboard Joe!
