AquaShrine: Mark Belkin

We haven't run pics of a F.O.A.M.er's personal AquaShrine in a while, so here is the collection of member Mark Belkin (click to embiggen). As you can see, all the members of the Aqua-Family (good and bad) are represented!

Mark writes for the DC in the 80s blog, where he just recently interviewed former Aqua-writer J.M. DeMatteis, go check it out! Thanks Mark!

Aquaman Family

sg
This is the personal Aquaman Shrine our newest F.O.A.M.er, Caylee Griffin, age 11. According to her father Shane, who wrote me, Caylee has been an Aquaman fan since she was 4(!). Shane also mentioned that his twin brother Paul Griffin is an Aquaman fan, and that this was something passed down by their father who gave his Aquaman comics collection to his kids, with Aquaman #50 being particularly beloved (that book's Deadman back-up feature turned Shane into a big fan of Boston Brand, as well).

Paul runs a Twitter account dedicated to Aquaman with the handle @DCWorldAquaman, and in between Shane's first email and this post, Caylee was so thrilled to be enrolled into F.O.A.M. that she posed for this adorable picture:
sg
This is truly an amazing story of Aqua-Fandom, spanning three generations! With fans like this, we can all rest assure that the Sea King will continue to be around for a long, long time.

Thanks very to Shane Griffin for reaching out, and Paul and Caylee Griffin, welcome to F.O.A.M.!

AquaShrines: Joe Miller

sgsgsg
F.O.A.M.er Joe Miller sent in pics of his newly-constructed AquaShrine. Simple and tasteful, nice job Joe! Extra points for the 1985 mini-series poster, an era of Aquaman generally not represented.

Aquaman Bead Figurine

sg
This adorable little Aquaman bead figurine is from the collection of newest F.O.A.M. member Michelle Hosier, who received it as a gift from her kids (it currently hangs from her car mirror, which probably gets her out of traffic tickets).

Michelle says she always wear Aquaman t-shirts to cons, and gets comments from at least another Aqua-Fan. She also sent this picture of her own personal Aquaman Shrine, which she describes as "a work in progress":

sg
Michelle, you're off to a good start! Thanks for the email, and welcome to F.O.A.M.!

AquaShrines: Ben Brandt

sg
The start of a promising Aquaman Shrine from our newest F.O.A.M.er, Ben Brandt! Though I find the corpse-like Aquaman keychain hanging from the trident a little disturbing.

Thanks Ben, welcome to F.O.A.M.!

AquaShrines: Curtis Myer

sg
We've been getting a lot of personal Aqua-Shrine pics lately! This is the collection of longtime F.O.A.M. member Curtis Myer, who has a career in merchandising ahead of him if he wants it! Rarely have I seen a Shrine so well organized and visually striking.

Nice job Curtis!

AquaShrines: David van Alphen

sg
Here's a pic of the personal AquaShrine of newest F.O.A.M. member David van Alphen, who sent this in a few weeks ago, on his birthday no less! Is it me, or do the Lego Aquaman look like they're about to be eaten by Domo Aquaman?

In any case, click to embiggen, and welcome to F.O.A.M. David!

AquaShrines: Jonathan Hanna

sg
F.O.A.M.er Jonathan Hanna is in the process of moving, but he and his girlfriend Michelle took time to set up this impromptu personal Aquaman Shrine (including F.O.A.M. certificate!) before everything got packed up! Love it! Thanks Jonathan!

AquaShrines: Russell Burbage

sg
Behold--The Aquaman Shrine of Shrine Correspondent Russell Burbage!

Somehow we've gone this long without posting these pics (Russell says he's sent them to me before, but I think he's lying), so I thought today would be appropriate since it's Russell birthday! Here are are some closer-up shots:
sgsgsgsg
Alongside all the usual suspects, here are a couple of things here that even I don't recognize (that shot of Aquaman on his Ski-Doo in the last picture, for instance), making for one awesome of collection of things orange and green.

Russell has been an enormously positive force in terms of Aquaman and the Shrine; I can confidently say the Shrine would not nearly be as good a resource without his efforts. Everyone wish him a happy birthday!

Aqua-Bedroom

sgsgsg
Now this is a bedroom fit for a king!

This is the bedroom of newest F.O.A.M. member Zack Granstaff, who is adding more Aqua-Bric-A-Brac as we speak. I'm not even sure how you find those exact right shades of orange, yellow, and green, but somehow he did it! Truly outrageous!

Nice job Zack, and welcome to F.O.A.M.!

John Bogdan, Aquaman Fan

sg
As we've learned from all these years with the Shrine, there are a lot of Aquaman fans out there--way more than I ever expected when I first launched the blog almost seven years ago. A number of you have even sent in Big pics of your Aquaman stuff, but this pic of new F.O.A.M. member John Bogdan is, as you can see, unique!

If you click this link, you'll find an article on Vice.com called Real Life Superheroes, where fans of various heroes are interviewed so they can make the case for their fandom. And the piece starts off with a Bang with John and his Aquaman regalia!

In addition to the photo and article link, John sent in his Theory about what kind of role Aquaman will play in "Trinity War", vis-a-vis squaring off against Hawkman. I'll hold off posting them here, but if John ends up being right, we'll give him due credit.

Until then John, welcome to F.O.A.M.!

AquaShrines: Christina Zara

sg
This is the office of our newest F.O.A.M. member, Christina Zara, whose email started with: "If I could tell my friends that I became a member of F.O.A.M while watching Sharknado this weekend, I’d be the happiest woman alive!"

Christina's love of the Sea King (or "Aqua-Stud", as she calls him) is clearly evident, from all the Aquaman bric-a-brac to the bright orange walls! Bonus points for queueing up the Shrine while taking the pic. Also nice to have R2D2 dispassionately watching over all.

sg
Christina also sent this pic, of the little "Voodoo Aquaman" that is attached to her purse, which means Arthur travels with her wherever she goes. It's obviously seen a lot of adventures, hence the missing eye (you should see the other guy!).

Well Christina, I hope this does, in fact, make you the Happiest Woman Alive--Welcome to F.O.A.M.!

Aquaman Shrines: Tim Wallace UPDATED!

sg
We've posted pics of F.O.A.M.er Tim Wallace's personal Aquaman Shrine before, but since then Tim had added to it greatly, so he sent in pics of all the new additions!
sg
sgsgsgsgsg
Great Neptune! How does Tim keep all those Aquamen standing upright?!?

BTW, check out Tim's Blue Beetle blog, Kord Industries--it's good stuff. Thanks Tim!

Aquaman Shrines: Michael Burgess

sg
Looks yummy!

The Shrine received these pics from our newest F.O.A.M. member, Michael Burgess:

sg
Here's what Michael had to say about his own personal Aqua-Shrine:

"Just thought I would share a photo of my groom's cake with you and other Aquaman fans. My wife and I tied the knot on October 20, 2012 and orange and green were the colors SHE picked out for the event. You have to know that I was more than happy with that selection!!! The event went great and the strawberry and lemon flavored cake underneath the Sea King themed icing was a big hit. Some of the attendees didn't 'get' the cake, so I had to provide them with just a little education...
You can tell by my job title [Stormwater and Floodplain Programs Manager] that I deal with water related issues everyday (protecting water quality and aquatic habitat) and even have an Aquaman themed office.

PS. I would love to be an member of FOAM and would proudly display the certificate amongst my degrees and certifications!"

...ask and ye shall receive Michael! Thanks for the pics and welcome to F.O.A.M.!

Holy Aqua-Shrine!

This is the *amazing* collection of F.O.A.M.er Joe Ehman...I'd say Aquaman and Batman would feel right at home here, while the other JLAers might feel a little left out.

Thanks for the pics Joe!
