Captain Action for Christmas!

I probably should have waited until December to post this, but when I found it on YouTube I just couldn't wait to share: check out this home movie shot in 1967 of a kid on Christmas morning, opening his presents. He gets a boatload of Captain Action stuff, including (around the 2:00 mark) an Aquaman set! Talk about a Christmas miracle!

Speaking of the good captain, it's overdue that we mention the fact that Captain Action is back in a big way, with comics, merch, and, of course, toys:

I love these new updated versions of the classic Captain Action outfits for various Marvel heroes, but you know who's missing, don't you? Yep, the DC heroes! If we can have new Captain Action Spider-Mans (Spider-Men?) and Captain Americas, there's no reason we can't have a Captain Action Superman, Batman, and (most importantly) Aquaman for the new century.

I'm not sure who would make such a thing possible--I assume it would be some combo of the Captain Action people and Warner Bros.--but let's let our voice be heard, Aqua-Fans! Demand the return of Captain Action Aquaman!

Maybe I'm a bit cynical, but is it possible that the "home movie" is a fake? It seemed awfully convenient that the boy got ALL the CA stuff. And the Silver Streak box was easily opened.

There's a part of me that wonders if some nice repro boxes and a good CA collection weren't used to make a very convincing "lost" film. I don't think the Carpenters were recording in 1967 either. Of course the sound could have been added later. It seemed the boy's "YES!" was...

But maybe it's just me?

Geez, what a haul!

The kid's reaction to the Aquaman Captain Action, however, isn't going to earn him a retroactive Shrine membership I fear.

The Carpenters first recorded "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" in 1978. That and home movies in 1967 weren't in stereo (which it sounds awful lot like), assuming one had a non-silent home movie camera at all.

Yeah, I suspect "fake" too, but still, cute "retro" video.

You guys are such buzzkills.

I take it back---looking on Wikipedia, Super 8 film (released in 1965) did support stereo sound (plus audio, its main feature)...

Sorry if I'm a buzzkill, rob!... just too many modified/homemade YouTube videos, I guess...

The music was probably added much later. id you've ever had old home movies transferred from the original reels to video you'd know that one can have music added in as these old movies had no sound.

@Anthony--JK. I like to believe this is legit, even if it isn't. :)

Sorry Rob. I hope it's real too! If it's not, it's a lovely recreation!

Chris, stereo existed in '67 - but sound home movies (though they also existed) were VERY rare.
As Anon. said, all odds are that the music was added later.

Rob, as to DC being onboard with the new Cap? TRUST me, the current owners have been on top of that possibility, in seven directions, from Day One.

What might help, is a barrage of notes to DC requesting that they join in.
