Pretty cool! Aquaman on the JL cover 2 issues in a row...AND featured more prominently than Supes or GL (or Flash or Batman). I know it seems silly, but this rarely (never?) happened in past iterations of the Justice League, so I want to give props to DC and the creative team for continuing to keep our man front and center — literally!

LOVING Jim Lee's take on the younger Sea King!

NOT loving Diana using a knife/dagger...a sword is cool but I "wonder" why DC seems to be playing down the lasso in the New 52?

I agree...loving seeing Aquaman not only on the cover, but front and center as well. I think I kinda like the sideburns...
DC is really doing a great job so far of selling the Sea King. Keep up the great work DC!

At first I thought that was Rob being facetious, but I guess that is the actual solicit. It's still hard to think of Cyborg as one of the big seven.

The flag is a great touch!

Am I crazy or does it look like Aquaman is about to sucker punch Diana?

Jim Lee still has no idea how to draw Aquaman's gloves, apparently, but it's still a very cool cover.

LOL, Joe! I actually thought Diana was patterned here after Padma on 'Top Chef'! "Hola, aliens! Pack up your knives and go!"

@rob! I had the same thought the second I saw it. The shadow hatches on Aquaman's glove and fist are a little flat and all in one direction, so they come across as speed lines. That and the thrust of his pose make it look like he's ready to pop her in the ear.

Agreed with Kenn on the Padma Lakshmi resemblance.

Also: Darkseid? Really, DC? You lost me again.

@Richard--It was revealed in issue 1 they were up against Darkseid. Who doesn't love Darkseid?

Richard said...

@David: Oops, I totally forgot that!

I certainly thought Darkseid was the most awesome thing ever in 1971...but much like Galactus, continually being brought back as an easily defeated lightweight ruined his mystique. I thought that's why they'd agreed to put him back on the shelf and not use him for a good long while.

Also, if you start them off against the biggest of all enemies, anything that follows will be a comedown. There's a reason the old League started off against a giant starfish and worked their way up...
