Brightest Day #21 - May 2011

sg
Comics Weekend "Mars Attacks" by Geoff Johns, Peter J. Tomasi, Patrick Gleason, Ivan Reis, Joe Prado, and more.

After the last issue Brightest Day being an Aqua-palooza, I think we all could guess this issue would focus on other characters. And we were right--most of this installment focuses on the Martian Manhunter.

But Aquaman does appear in this issue--or at least part of him does:
sg
...I hope someone picks that up!

In Miami, a horde of other superheroes have arrived to help with the aftermath, and Mera clues them in on what happened to Aquaman:

sg
The issue ends with Manhunter suffering the same fate as Aquaman and the Hawks, so of course...to be continued!

But that's not quite all: on the DC Nation page in the back of this issue is the final page from Time Masters: Vanishing Point #6, which features a whole bunch of messages scrawled on a chalkboard:
sg
"The Terror of Aquaman"? I guess we'll have to keep our eyes peeled...

Update: Over on the Aquaman Shrine Facebook page, F.O.A.M.er Zack Lyke (creator of this month's cool header) points out that the hand washing up on the beach is the wrong one: Aquaman lost his right hand in Brightest Day #19, not his left. Mistake, or some weird hint?

Interesting chalkboard. But... And I know it is way to soon to tell, but when we finally get Aquaman back, and he's come to terms with his life and those in and ... dare I say, he's happy... We get "The Terror of Aquaman".

Doh.
