JLU Sticker Sheet - 2005

sgThese super-fun stickers are courtesy F.O.A.M.er Brian Heiler, who sent me a bunch of sheets of
em. And when I say courtesy, I don't just mean he sent them to me--I mean he and his company actually produced them for sale in Canada, so I'd have never seen them if not for him. Thanks Brian!

I'm intrigued by the character choices here--Superman, Batman, Flash, sure. But...Dr.Fate? Copperhead? Did any comic fan growing up in the seventies and eighties ever think you'd see Copperhead merchandise? Why, it's almost enough to make one think of starting The Copperhead Shrine!*

Like I said, Brian generously sent me a bunch of sheets, so that I've been sticking at least one sticker on every envelope and package I've sent out in the last few months(except bills, of course--I'm not wasting a fine member of the JLA on a check to the IRS). Plus I have at least one sheet to keep in mint condition, the hallmark of any good collector nerd.

And while Aquaman is in his BLL guise, at least he's on here. Considering the amount of characters to pick from, I'm just happy he got included!

*Not really.

I don't think it's necessarily surprising that Copperhead is there; after all, he and Solomon Grundy were in several episodes of the cartoon. What's more surprising to me is that actual members Hawkgirl(woman) and Martian Manhunter are not included. That seems totally random.

A very nice touch on the package I might add, I was wondering where that sticker came from.

Heh it is totally random, I wanted Aquaman and Doctor Fate in there and chose them over MM and Hawkgirl.

I only had a choice of three villains (the new style guide arrived three weeks after this went to press) at the time and thought it odd I didn't have Luthor.

megomuseum, I'm sure you know this already but, you can usually pull from the DC style guide site way before they cut the guides. I pulled the Luther pose from there a good 8 or 9 months before they sent me the latest update on CD with him in it.

I also now where your comming from on using the lesser know players, way to go! Love the stickers!

Thanks, yeah this was all pulled from DAFE, I never got a real style guide. This was all they had. I even begged for Luthor, he showed up there just after along with about 40 new characters.

In the end it didn't matter the thing sold really well.

I did have a long weekend party though where I gave these out and had to say "that's Dr Fate and that's Aquaman" to about a half dozen of my friends kids who asked.......
