JLA Plate by Glenn Orbik

During the heyday of the Warner Bros. mall stores, there was tons of merch produced with Aquaman on it, some of which I'm still discovering to this day. Case in point, this collector's plate of the then-JLA by legendary painter Glen Orbik (who unexpected passed away earlier this month). A really nice piece, but how is Batman doing what he's doing, exactly?

When they do that, they all yell "SUPER FRIENDS!!!" and suddenly everyone can fly. Even through space. Just ask your buddy Aquaman.

I was sad to hear about Orbik's passing. Loved his DC cover work. I don't have this plate, but I do have a plastic cup that I believe came from Subway with Supes, Bats, WW and Flash. Who would have ever thought a plastic cup could be beautiful.

With Batman's enormous fanning cape and distinct silhouette, he's better suited to be in the back of multi-character compensations, but of course that doesn't happen very often!

Because he's Batman.
