It's Adventure Sunday!
Aquaman took some time out from solo adventuring and missions with the Justice League to help one of his new pals out:
Superman rescues Lois (Ibid) from some marauding sharks, while Lori beams some telepathic messages to her former flame, telling him to kiss Lois. Superman follows through--sort of. Instead of planting a big Kryptonian Wet One on the intrepid reporter, he gives her a brotherly peck on the forehead, angering Lois and frustrating Lori. Time for Plan B!
Using an amnesiac man lost at sea, Lori steers the life raft towards the ship Clark and Lois are on, hoping the rescued man will fall in love with Lois, thereby causing Superman to get madly jealous. Fool proof, right? Wrong! Turns out the guy is a prince to the kingdom of Veronia! Superman brings Veronia's king to the ship, who identifies the young man. Then Superman flies them both home, leaving Lois high and dry again.
Lori tries yet another plan, this one involving a plastic mold of Lois' face glued onto a bunch of a bunch of fish, making Superman think that he's obsessed (don't ask). But wait...isn't Aquaman supposed to be in this story?

It would be hard to imagine a more insane Superman-and-Lois-Romance story, and that's saying something. If I had been Superman, I would have moved to another city to get away from all these scheming busybodies. I wonder if he and Aquaman had any words at the next JLA meeting?
Art-wise, I think this might be the only time Wayne Boring ever drew Aquaman. Is it me, or does he look particularly beefy here? Too many buffets at the Secret Sanctuary!

Is there a specific story where Aquaman learns Superman's secret identity? Seems he knows it here, but not sure if I recall a specific story...maybe told after the events of JLA #122? Or just assume Clark divulged it off-panel pretty early on?
Nice plug for Aquaman's stories in "Adventure."
Boring drew everyone pretty beefy, but Arthur does look a little portly here.

Yep, the Lois-faced fish scheme is a whole 'nother level of Silver Age matchmaking weirdness. And the answer to Clark's question, is "yes"; Krypto DID eventually get in on the Lois/Superman 'shipping craze.
I never cared for Boring's male figures, that barrel-chestedness Aquaman shows off here being a prime reason why, but his female characters are a different story. I think Boring's Lori is anything but.
Wayne Boring's Aquaman reminds me of Spongebob's hero, Mermaid Man.
I don't know if I'm in the minority but I hate Silver Age Superman stories, especially the Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen ones. For every classic Superman story there's a dozen dumb "Lois as Mermaid" ones.
It doesn't help that I was never a fan of Wayne Boring's work.

I'm kind of in agreement with Russell here. I got headaches trying to get through Silver Age Superman stories as soon as I learned to read. The imaginary ones were usually the best for some reason. Boring shows just how spoiled we've been with Fradon every week. That being said, I'm enjoying the complete picture of Aqua-history that the Shrine is giving us.
Interesting how Schwartz and Weisinger started building a shared universe a few years before Marvel.
