Super Heroes Stock Art by Jose Luis Garcia Lopez

sg
There aren't too many pieces of JLGL stock art from the now-legendary 1982 DC Comics Style Guide that the Shrine hasn't already covered (pieces that feature Aquaman, at least), but I did find another one recently--this group shot, with the generic "Super Heroes" moniker adorning it.

The Big Three get the lion's share of the space, but there seems to be two other "tiers" at work here--Aquaman, Flash, Green Lantern, and Captain Marvel take up the middle space, with the Teen Titans, Red Tornado, and Supergirl bringing up the rear.

I never get tired of looking at this stuff.

Look at this, and then go look at those 52 #0 covers.

To quote Kris Kristofferson (via Johnny Cash)..."and it took me back to something, that I lost somewhere, somehow along the way."

My copy of the Style Guide isn't complete, but it does contain sections for Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Shazam, JLA I (some Aquaman in that), New Teen Titans, and Combination Designs (from whence the above art comes). There were other sections that didn't end up in my copy: Plastic Man, Super Friends, Super Jrs. (sort of baby-like li'l super heroes) and JLA II.

I tell you, it's been so long since I worked at DC and I've gone through so many household moves I'm happy that I've still got ANY of this stuff!!

Jose's work never gets old, does it? Clean, classic, timeless.
