HeroWorld Aquaman

sg
sg
Hey, this is exciting!

Hot on the heels of F.O.A.M.er Brent Almond's efforts to get Fisher Price to add Aquaman to their Imaginext line, they have gone and released a new Aquaman figure, complete with vehicle, as part of another line!

These shots are from a new brand called HeroWorld, which incorporates the DC Super Friends. There must be Superman, Batman, etc. figures as well, but I don't care--we've got a new Aquaman toy, and did I mention he comes with a vehicle?!?

Check out the Fisher Price Hero World page for more pics of the figure, and you'll also find a handy search engine that helps you find stores that carry the HeroWorld toys, as well as ways to order online! I know I'm jumping brands, but...outrageous!

I had no idea this existed until F.O.A.M.er Joe Huber pointed it out via email. Thanks Joe, and good catch!

I have to say, that's an exceptionally good design!

Cracks me up that they give Aquaman a boat! They have done this many times before in toy lines and in the animated versions. Aquaman... a boat! LOL

Nice! This is a new one on me too.

Still puzzled by the lack of Imaginext Aqua-product though.

That's a first...an Aquaman buoy?

That second picture with the buoy on his hand makes him seems like a hook-hand Aquaman hybrid.

I can't wait to get it.

This is actuallly pretty impressive. According to this page (http://www.fisher-price.com/en_US/brands/heroworld/products/index.html) the DC SuperFriends/Hero World line is largely Bat-centric (5 Batman Toys, 4 Bat-villain toys) with 4 Green Lanterns, 1 Superman (with Krypto, very cute), and now Aquaman! A-man beats out Flash and Wonder Woman!

I hate to rain on everyone's Aqua-parade, but I clicked every one of those links Fisher-Price provided to purchase the toy at various retailers. The only one that even had a link/photo of the toy was Amazon, and it lists it as "No longer available." I even searched on Ebay and didn't find it. I emailed Fisher-Price to ask if it was still being made, but I'm not holding my breath for an answer.

Also, if you look at the 2 pics Rob posted, the boats are different: the claws in front are open on the 1st, closed on the 2nd (and at a completely different angle); the 1st has a pattern on the claws, the 2nd one is smooth; the 1st boat has headlights, the 2nd one doesn't; etc.

All of this leaves me wondering if A) these are just renderings and it's yet to be released, or B) these are just renderings, and a few were released but then they stopped making them.

I'm no expert toy collector — anyone have any thoughts on what this might mean?

Oops, I misspoke. Amazon didn't have the toy either. What they had was the Mattel DC Super Friends Aqua Sub. Currently unavailable, natch.

Nice indeed. I like how they gave him an optional hook, but why no beard? ;)

Well, I stand corrected! Fisher-Price DID get back to me with a response:

Mr Almond,

We’re happy to hear about your interest in our Aquaman. This is one of our brand new products, and it will not be out until the Fall.

Thanks again,

Woo-Hoo! How cool that FP responded and it really will be released!

Cool DD. I was ready to say "Well it was pretty ugly anyway" (sour grapes), but I will definitely be looking for it in the fall!

Excellent news Brent! Thx for the legwork!!

By the way, DD, the Aquaman & Aquasub is a few years old. I'm sure it is no longer available from FP. :-)

Aquaman with a submarine makes about as much sense as Green Lantern with a jet or Flash with a motorcycle(which FP also did). Still waiting for Superman with a bullet-proof vest.

Wow, I'm loving the design of the sub (yeah, Aquaman can just swim anywhere but hey, maybe sometimes he wants to drive his boat :P). I also like the pincers on the front (reminds me of similar arms on the old Super Powers Lex Luthor vehicle) and I dig the optional arm harpoon.

Might have to pick this up if I can spend the money in the fall.

Russell, yeah I see that. Too bad — I (I mean my son) needs some new bath toys. :)
