"It's Never Too Late to Have A Happy Childhood"

sg
This custom-made Aquaman is part of a photo essay by Philip Bonneau titled "It's Never Too Late To Have a Happy Childhood", which appeared on TheAdvocate.com (possibly NSFW), and features men and women appearing reverting back to childhood via homemade superhero costumes. Not only is the Sea King represented, but there's also Catwoman, The Joker, a cross-dressing Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, even Martian Manhunter!

This was sent in via the Shrine's Facebook page by F.O.A.M. member Lee Pigliavento. Nice catch, thanks Lee!

"even Martian Manhunter"

Thanks for that, because I'd never have expected to find Martian Manhunter in the Advocate, despite his nom de cape.

WON’T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREN?!?

I saw the rest of these shots and have to say...I find nothing interesting about them. The author talks about "exploring adults reconnecting with their childhood imagination", and, for me, I find nothing happy about them. No joy, no childhood cheer, just voyeurism of pics of people being posed. I would say that non of the subjects really are into being those characters, just a photog posing them. Sorry, they just don't work for me...

Aquaman, I think where your wrong is your looking at the face value of the picture. Exploring of the imagination means taking on the characters and how they are put together, not necessarily an expression of happy moment. They take on the characters and display them in an interesting way that is true to the character or an interesting twist on them. I think what your looking for or expected might be found by someone who decided to photograph a Halloween party.
