The content was so carefully bifurcated this podcast, I decided my comments should follow suit...

A1. Mort Weisinger also co-created the Martian Manhunter. As with Aquaman, he gets no credit because a) he was a DC editor, b) it would be too difficult to locate and credit whoever he stole whichever ideas he "contributed" to the co-creations, and c) tool.
A2. I'm not so sure Weisinger was on a roll in creating Aquaman and Green Arrow (unless you meant figuratively "rolling" their actual creators) as he was the guy who got to decide to keep publishing them.
A3. Martian Manhunter also had his cover debut on Brave and the Bold #28.
A4. Sub-Mariner was one of the top Timely characters, and trend chasers that they were, he got dropped as soon as the super-hero fad faded. Aquaman's limping along as DC back matter isn't his triumph. That came in the '60s, when the Aquaman TV show and its successor Super Friends installed the Sea King as part of the popular consciousness. Sub-Mariner's contemporaneous cartoon was a dud, and his glory days are a half century gone.
A5. Nobody has ever contacted me for help related to the physics of Martian Manhunter. No one will ever contact me for help related to the physics of Martian Manhunter. For a supposed sci-fi character, the parameters of Martian Manhunter's powers are best defined as "leprechaun."
A6. I vastly prefer Aquaman as loner cowboy over Sea King. Onward, to adventure!

Super podcast this week -- and unexpected! With the "Who's Who" episode, I didn't think we'd be getting something so soon, at least until after the release of Aquaman and Firestorm.

Listening to this episode today, it occurred to me.... might it be fair to say that Golden Age Aquaman's elevator pitch was "an undersea Tarzan"? Listening to the retelling of the stories, they reminded me of the Tarzan movies and TV shows my dad used to watch when I was little. If you substituted Tarzan's poachers with Aquaman's pirates, you might see how that connection came to me.

I'm sure someone else made this connection before. Just thought I'd share...
