I thought that was just the coolest doll when I was kid...but Mom didn't agree. It took me 20 years to get one and a little longer to get the Aqualad costume but it finally joined my collection. (So there, Mom)!

I really need an Aqualad costume for my Action Boy. This panel is cool!

Was Captain Action possibly a regional thing? Growing up in SE Missouri in the late 60s to mid 70s, I had any number of dolls--Major Matt Mason, G.I. Joes, the original Mego superhero dolls, the Six Million Dollar Man, Barbies--but the Shrine is the first place I'd ever heard of Captain Action.

I think Captain action and Action boy are the best action figures that came out. I had them when i was a kid. Man the hours i spent Robin saving Batman form the evil enemies that batman had then if it got to bad for robin to save him you had 11 other superheros to save him. great stuff
can't wait until the new Captain action line comes out the spring

Joseph, CA was not only not just regional - he was International!

And, the FIRST superhero action figure, to boot.

Joseph, Like Craig W said he wasn't regional but I think distribution to more rural areas was spotty at best. I grew up in a small rural town in Eastern Washington state. We had a Sears and Pennys and Woolworth and such but with a smaller population they stocked the more popular toys like GI Joe and Johnny West to greater degree. I had the Flash Gordon set but no Cap and a friend had Cap but no uniforms and one other friend had Batman and the figure. Other than that I don't remember seeing much beyond that.

I liked Captain Action quite a bit, and only had Supes, Fury, and Aquaman for costumes, but when Action Boy came out the next year, he was THE COOLEST EVER.

Aqualad was the only outfit set I got, and it's still my favorite.

Don't know if it's the suit, belt, or cool boots, but Aqualad ROCKS.
