It's Adventure Sunday!
As Superboy contemplates becoming a one-man stimulus program, Aquaman...is afraid to go in the water, again?
Aquaman ends up swimming in orange juice ("Full of vitamins!"), milk, and even liquid metal, all of which just happen to come by via trucks. But when the last truck's engine dies in the middle of the desert, now what?
...and with that, so ends another adventure with Aquaman!
You know, the introduction of Dirk Scuttle (stop laughing!) in place of Black Jack makes me think of a lyric from a Joni Mitchell song: "You don't know what you've got, 'til its gone."
A supremely goofy story, and basically a retread of "Exiled from the Sea!" in Adventure Comics #134, this story is just an excuse to come up with as many different liquids Aquaman could swim in as possible (the one time I'm thankful for the Comics Code!).
However, I really do enjoy the puzzled fish in the last panel.
Programming Note: Adventure Sunday is taking next Sunday--Christmas Day--off, but it'll be back on Sunday, January 1, 2012!

Well, this would be a few years before the Comics Code came along, but I was scratching my head at his swimming through *mercury* ("quicksilver")...

The plot: Clark has to write a paper on what he wants to do when he grows up. Unable to decide, he spends spring break working several jobs (the ones shown on the cover), but finds A) he keeps running into Perry White, a "Daily Planet" reporter, and B) being Superboy interferes with said jobs. He decides that being a reporter would be the best choice (for its mobility and ability to go to sources of trouble). His paper wins first prize, given to him by Perry (who's just been named editor of the Planet... though a 1985 miniseries contradicts this, showing Perry becomes editor upon an Earth-1 George Taylor's retirement, during Superboy's college years. Perhaps he's just become a more-plausible-sounding *assistant* editor here...).

Insanely goofy story, but I love the splash panel with the hordes of confused sealife. Classic.

Hey, it just occured to me. This story marks the debut of the "Aqua-radio"! Aquaman must have gotten tired of all those dropped messages from the bottle method.
