The Aqua-Family by Luke Daab

F.O.A.M. member and graphic designer & illustrator Luke Daab describes this Aquaman Family piece as done in "hyper-cute graphic styles" and he couldn't be more right!

Here's what Luke had to say about his inspiration & design process:

"I came up with the concept for this Aquaman Family poster while illustrating modular elements for an e-card activity online. While creating the modules, I had the idea to represent the entire Aquaman cast using nothing but modular elements (with the exception of variations in color, size and costume).

After illustrating the all the characters, I decided to take the module concept a step further by creating modular frames and background elements for a full-size poster. The result is what you see here. The end product has a hyper-sugary-cuteness that I'm ecstatic about. One of my co-workers said it looked like wallpaper from a child's bedroom. Once the poster was created, I realized that what I had actually illustrated was an arsenal of Aquaman modules that could be repeated, re-paired together, and rearranged to create an assortment of new designs. The stationery you see is just a sample of that. Aquaman has been my artistic muse for the past year.

My coworkers have teased me relentlessly since discovering I'm a fan and I suppose the taunting has fueled my creativity. I've loved Aquaman my whole life. The secondary colors in his costume, the mysteries of the deep, combined with a great supporting cast have kept him close to my heart. Feel free to take a look at some of my other Aquaman designs on my blog! Thanks for reading!"

Awesome work Luke, thanks for sharing!
