The All-New Super Friends Hour: Episode 14

sg
It's time for another episode of The All-New Super Friends Hour!

First up, Aquaman (yay!) and Superman tangle with the megalomaniacal supervillain known as Sculpin in "Frozen Peril":
sg
The supervillain Sculpin hatches a plan to freeze the Earth's oceans, cut up the ice, and sell it to desert nations--great plan!

Superman and Aquaman search for Sculpin and his ship, and they scope out two small islands. Aquaman is the one who finds him, but is zapped by Sculpin's freeze ray:
sg
Superman finds Aquaman and rescues him (*sigh), and together they stop Sculpin. I really think Aquaman could have handled this himself.

Aquaman appears again in the Safety feature, teaching kids not to play at construction sites:
sg
...after teaching the kids it isn't safe, he even volunteers to join them at a nearby park where their other friends are! How cool!

The Wonder Twins help bail out some kids involved in a prank gone horribly wrong, and Wonder Woman gives us clues for the De-Coder word. Then all the Super Friends are together for "The Mummy of Nazca":
sg
Clark Kent and the Wonder Twins visit a Metropolis museum, where a mummy is on display ("Gee, thanks for filling in for Superman, Mr. Kent", Zan remarks, proving that he was a step down from Marvin). Later that night, a museum employ sneaks into the exhibit and lets loose some sort of magic elixir, causing the mummy to come alive:
sg
You know, Hanna-Barbera takes a lot of grief for its cut-rate animation, and rightly so. But sometimes they really brought it, like the scene of Nazca coming alive: its detailed and moody, and is actually a little creepy, in a Universal Monsters-kind of way. Well done!

Anyway, the mummy is now on a rampage, which draws in the Super Friends. Turns out the bad guy--Professor Korloff (!)--controlling the mummy wants to use it to acquire various mystical objects, which turns this adventure into a trip around the world!

The Wonder Twins get kidnapped by Korloff, and Aquaman commands some flying fish to help find him, and them:
sg
But at this point, Korloff and his mummy have amassed all the objects, which opens a tomb containing some powerful, ancient weapon!

The Super Friends arrive, and Korloff sics Nazca on them while he escapes. Batman, Robin, and Aquaman give chase, and the Sea King does something really cool: he jumps straight up in the air, grabbing onto Korloff's helicopter!:
sg
After apprehending Korloff, we see that the "weapon" is not a weapon at all: its a spaceship, which takes the mummy into outer space, back to his home! Wow!

sg
Aquaman appears again in the Crafts segment, showing us how to recycle old milk cartons as piggy banks!

Following that, Wonder Woman teams up with The Atom in the straightforwardly-named "Cable Car Rescue":
sg
As if Aquaman wasn't busy enough teaching us not to play at construction sites and how to make piggy banks, he also shows up in the "Health" segment to help teach a young girl what to do when you get something in your eye: namely, pull the upper lid over your lower lid, which will cause a tear to form, which should get rid of the foreign object. Thanks Aquaman!
sg
...and so ends another fun episode of The All-New Super Friends Hour!

Aquaman is all over this episode--the first team-up piece, three(!) short segments, and the Super Friends adventure! A good--nay, great--week for the Sea King!

This episode's Aqua-Content: High
