Aquaman Sunday Funnies - "Silence of the Fishes"

sg
In lieu of a crossword or puzzle page this Sunday, I thought the Shrine would indulge in another old-timey tradition: the Sunday Funnies!

In this case, that means selections from DC's two Bizarro-themed collections, Bizarro Comics (2001) and Bizarro World (2005), which were short segments by writers and artists who (generally) don't work in mainstream superhero comics. Most of the stories are comedic, gently (and sometimes not so gently) poking fun at the conventions of the DCU, but some are melancholy, and some are even a little sad. One thing's for sure: they are definitely the most unique Aquaman stories you'll ever see.

The Sea King appears in a handful of segments across the two books, like this one, "Silence of the Fishes" by mad genius Evan Dorkin:

I just love the idea of Aquaman having a tiff with all the creatures of the sea. That just makes me laugh.

More next week!

I loaned this to a friend two years ago. I'm still waiting to get it back. *sigh*
