I like that Arthur rescued the little girl's teddy bear too, it's a nice little character defining detail that a lesser creative team may have left out. Morrison & Quitely really are one of the best pairings in modern age comics.
It made him a little less frightening to a child, given his stature, that booming voice...oh, and that big harpoon for an arm.
One of my favorite Aquaman scenes ever is just a couple panels after this when he soundly trounces Power Ring. So much so that I included it in my recent Aquaman post.
