Brightest Day #17 - March 2011

sg
Comics Weekend "Homecoming" by Geoff Johns, Peter J. Tomasi, Ivan Reis, Scott Clark, and more.

Gah! The last issue Brightest Day was very Aqua-centric, this time around he's not in it at all!

I think Geoff Johns has spoiled me a bit--after years of there being no new Aquaman, a couple of pages every fifth issue of Brightest Day just ain't gonna cut it. Let's get this Aquawar thing started!

Anyway, F.O.A.M.er Joe Slab pointed out something to me relating to this issue. Here's the variant cover by Ivan Reis that got put out by DC a few weeks ago:

And here's the cover as it eventually looked when the book came out this week:

The "A" is a lot more sharp-y! Careful doing sit-ups, Arthur!

Good catch, thanks Joe!

Too pointy, like one of those neurotic actresses who diet their way to de-sexy.

I think it better reflects his anger over not being included in this issue...

I honestly can't see a difference in the sharpness of the two A's. It just looks like a colouring difference to me. Maybe I'd need to see an overlay hahaha...

I think the difference in the icons is striking.

Nice to see that DC is giving enough thought to the Sea King's details that they would go through the trouble to revise it.

There's a striking difference in the colouring--I'm not convinced it's sharper at all though.

OH, the Icon BEHIND Arthur! Hahaha--the line about situps threw me off the trail.

I think they went with a sharper "A" to look tougher. The rounded "A" looks sort of jolly. That's the kind of think Marketing people think of.

Sorry Aquaman didn't show up this issue. But I got a few pages of the Nuclear Man, so I'm thrilled!

Better luck next time, fish lover! =P
