At the 2010 NYCC, there was an exclusive five minute-long preview of Young Justice shown to an enthusiastic audience. As you might have guessed from these stills, someone managed to record the entire event and post it on YouTube.

F.O.A.M.er Holly Hutchinson was nice enough to grab some of the Aquaman-centric stills from it, admitting she was a little surprised the video (at the time, at least) had not yet been removed by the WB. For all I know, its still up there now!

Taking a look at these pics, its interesting to see that Aquaman is also sporting a beard here, yet retaining (most of) his classic look. Is that an influence from the Brave and the Bold version?

According to this article on io9, Young Justice will have a special preview on the Cartoon Network in November, with the regular series starting in 2011. That means Aquaman will be on two--two--different TV series at the same time. Three, if you want to count this appearance on the Nov. 19th Smallville. As Holly puts it, "It's an embarrassment of Aqua-riches! Can't complain about that, eh?"

True enough--thanks Holly!

Lookin' good, but I'm perplexed why they are playing Dick Grayson so young. I guess the new Aqualad is the leader here? And rumors tend to point toward Garth being Aqualad before? This means Robin is a newbie? Odd.

I think the rumors are mostly just people theorizing at this point--it's a different "earth" so it's not safe to assume anything, really. Robin strikes me more as Tim than Dick, though, which would explain the height. The preview's still on youtube, a couple copies actually. Pretty cool.

From what I've read -- it is Dick Grayson, but Robin isn't a newbie. Apparently this will be set on "Earth-16", by which any and all differences from what we expect may be explained. I saw something mentioned about most of the adult heroes having been active for only about 10 years, and Robin being the "first sidekick" and having been active for 4. Or something like that. If Aqualad is indeed going to wind up the group's leader, it may be for other qualities than length of experience.

Rob, I wonder if you're onto something with the idea that the beard-and-short-hair version of Aquaman here is a bit of an homage to TB&TB's Aquaman?

As soon as I saw the first pics of Aquaman from this show, he looked like a thinner version of the one seen in B&B, which is very popular. So I'd think my guess (for once) is not far off.

Plus, I would imagine they're trying to underline the age difference between the two sets of heroes, and a beard helps that--you can't put one on Batman, and Arrow's already got one, so why not Aquaman too?

Aquaman kind of looks like a blond Dr. Quest from Jonny Quest here!

As long as he doesn't look like Rusty Venture...

First time posting, so I'd first like to say hi to everyone. I have a similar story to Rob, growing up in the 70's and loving Aquaman. And Aquaman is always in my big 5 (the Super Friends) no matter what DC says...

Anyway, from what I read Robin is only 12 here, with Wally 14, and the others at similar ages. That's why he's a lot smaller.

I know it's cool aquaman's getting some face time on tv, but why can't they get him straight? So many versions of one single character makes him less recognizable.

If you watch the video they showed at NYCC, Aquaman even acts like he does on B&B. It's not comic accurate, but it's still fun.

Only one reason I can think of for Zatara being in the JL: Zatanna will be in YJ at some point!
