Anti-Violence - 1973

sg
F.O.A.M.er Brian Heiler is like a one-man LexisNexis--he sends me all sorts of really odd bits of flotsam from newspapers and magazines that feature Aquaman in some way, the kind of stuff you would think be lost to the mists of time. This little bit is a classic example of that.

I know when I was growing up, the Aquaman show inspired me to perpetrate all kinds of violence, especially on monstrous sea creatures, alien invaders, and oddly-domed undersea criminals
. Great Neptune, won't somebody think of the children?!?

I looooove seeing this stuff, thanks Brian!

I wouldn't be suprised if this wasn't the same group that neutered Tom and Jerry.

Uh, I meant " ... WAS the same group ... "

I always thought Tom & Jerry deserved censoring more than Looney Tunes, because their hi-jinks happened in the house. I mean, how likely is it a kid would ever use dynamite, boulders or anvils against his little brother? But I could totally see him sticking the family cat's tail into a light socket.

That said, if anyone ever deserved to have violence visited on them, it was those groups who ruined Saturday cartoons for us kids of the 70s.
