Aquaman #32 Ad - 1967

sg
I never get tired of looking at these DC house ads, especially from the 50s and 60s, since they were mostly done by DC's then in-house design genius, Ira Schnapp (check out Dial B For Blog's excellent, multi-part history on Mr. Schnapp). There's so much text in a tiny space, but the use of negative space and color makes the whole thing hang together beautifully.

It helps that the cover to this particular issue of Aquaman by Nick Cardy is so good; it really looks like Aquaman is in a lot of trouble!

Nick Cardy does the most amazing covers. Goes without saying, though.

Panic-inducing, that's what it feels like. We NEED to know what's going to happen!

Nice - there's something to be said for the days were ads where pretty much all hand drawn.. great stuff!
