My long time pal (and F.O.A.M. member) Sean Tiffany found this great Aquaman character study by Cliff Chiang over on his website (where you can find tons of other great pieces by Mr. Chiang).
Chiang's Aquaman has a little of that 1940s Joe Shuster-Superman in him, with his bull neck, beefy build, and little slits for eyes. Its too bad that (to my knowledge) Chiang's never gotten the chance to draw Aquaman in a DC book--I really like what I see here.
