I had heard of the rock band The Aquabats before this, and despite their name (and appearance!), it never really occurred to me they had any connection to superheroes in general or Aquaman in specific.
Well, color me wrong thanks to our newest F.O.A.M. member, James Williamson, who hunted down a newspaper interview with the 'bats, where the topic of superheroes comes up a lot. And then there's this, about where they got their name, a smash-up of Aquaman and Batman:
Since the band's name is pretty much an amalgam of both, who's more dope...Aquaman or Batman?
I probably have to go with Batman, but it's a tough call. Aquaman can summon the powers of the deep. He can call all the whales to push the boat into the harbor. That's pretty dope. He's got the power of the sea and a cool utility belt.
Wow! I thought bands that formed in the 90s only named themselves after characters in The Simpsons or Star Wars, but here's Aquaman's turn.
Very cool stuff, thanks James and welcome to F.O.A.M.!

I've never even heard of thes guys! I'll have to track 'em down and given 'em a listen.
Not sure if its any consolation but Travis Barker of Blink 182 fame used to be the drummer for this band before he was in Blink. I can only hope he is an aquaman fan as well.
my daughter loves YO GABBA GABBA on Nick Jr., which is a show that the Aquabats have been featured on many a time. I kinda figured their name was inspired by Aquaman and Batman, but never had proof until now! so cool!
the aquabats are actual co creators of yo gabba gabba way cool huh?
Love the comment about band names of the nineties.
