The way you could win was by submitting a drawing of Aquaman by any kid, age 1-12. It didn't have to be your kid; if you wanted to hire some 9-year-old just to win the DVD, more power to you.
Anyway, by the end of the contest we only had three entries (never rely on artists to make a deadline!), so I decided to award a DVD to each of the three kids who sent in a drawing.
The first piece is by F.O.A.M.er Eric Stettmeier's daughter Natalie (age 7), featuring Aquaman and some goldfish pals. The second piece is by Eric's other daughter Amanda Ross (age 11), and has Aquaman and a happy dolphin, swimming along contentedly.
The final piece is by fan of the page Bill Mellin's son Bryce (age 8, though the picture was done when he was 6). Bill's a big Aquaman fan, and he says, "Now to see my son love the character is something special."
I absolutely love seeing kids' drawings of Aquaman; its gives me hope that the character will continue to endure long after all of us Aqua-Fans have gone to that great JLA Satellite in the sky. Who knows; maybe one of these kids will take over the Shrine one day!
Thanks to Eric, Natalie, Amanda, Bill, and Bryce for entering the contest; and the DVDs are on their way!
