Daily Planet - 9/24/79

sg
Remember those cool Daily Planet pages DC used to run in their comics? They were one of my favorite recurring features of DC's books in the 1970s, and this one is from September 24, 1979--thirty years ago today!

A few weeks ago, comics historian/writer/editor/director(!) Andy Mangels sent me a huge pile of Aquaman and treasury comic-related ads and Daily Planet pages from DC comics, which was very generous of him--it was about a month's worth of material, just for the Shrine alone!

This page not only highlights Aquaman in the main article, but he is also mentioned in the "Ask The Answer Man" feature by Bob Rozakis, where Bob admits that all of DC's heroes are subject to "selective aging."

What it does not do is feature the most exciting headline DC ever ran--although "Super Friends Star in Digest" is not as bad as previous Daily Planet leads like "Superman Saves Metropolis, Day", "Atom Has Marital Troubles", and "DC Changes 'Tales of the Unexpected' to 'The Unexpected', Saves Money on First Class Mailing Permit."

This is only one of the many, many items Andy sent me, making him our newest member of F.O.A.M.! Thanks Andy!
