The All-New Super Friends Hour: Episode 3

sg
It's time for another episode of The All-New Super Friends Hour!

This episode kicks off with "The Marsh Monster", featuring Superman, Batman, and Robin.

Following that, Aquaman teaches kids to be safe using proper equipment when playing sports, like baseball:

The Wonder Twins star in "Runaways", Wonder Woman handles the De-Coder segment, and then all the Super Friends star in "Will The World Collide?":

In this episode, a mad scientist named Professor Fearo teams up with a nasty alien, named Cleazor, to build a machine that will cause Earth to collide with another planet!

With the Earth being dragged out of its orbit, all manner of ecological disasters start befalling the planet.

Unfortunately, for the most part, Aquaman just gets to stand around in this episode. The one moment he gets to shine is when he orders one of his finny friends to cut open a hole in Professor Fearo's floating mountain headquarters:

...eventually, the Super Friends all get aboard, and defeat Fearo, just minutes before Earth crashes into the other planet.

Batman and Robin teach us some magic, and Superman teams up with Hawkman and Hawkgirl (again!) in "Time Rescue."

This is one of my favorite team-ups: partly because it features Hawkgirl, one of my all-time favorite characters, and I was thrilled she got included on the show. But also because it has a great plot: it involves Superman and the Hawks going into the future to chase down a rogue scientist, and there's a funny scene where they end up at a bar that feels a lot like the Mos Eisley Cantina. Given when this episode was produced (sometime in mid-1977), you have to think this was a nod to Star Wars.

In the Health segment, Aquaman teaches a comely young lass about the benefits of exercise, including of course his favorite: swimming!

...and so ends another fun episode of The All-New Super Friends Hour!
