Blackest Night Teaser Poster

sg
This is the new teaser poster for DC's upcoming Blackest Night series. Two words I never thought I'd see together: Zombie Aquaman.

I swore off all multi-book crossover events years ago, but alas, I think I'm going to have to pick this one up. My only hope is, by the end of it, we have a living, breathing, Classic Aquaman once again the DCU.

About a dozen different F.O.A.M. members sent me this yesterday (you guys are awesome), but newest F.O.A.M.er Max Handerson was first. Thanks Max!

Umm, wow. His new symbol is directing neon-lit attention at his undead pecker. I could do without all of that. ALL of THAT.

It just occurred to me-- does Living Dead Aquaman talk to netted fish? Can he control the shrimp scampi you just ate, from inside your belly? Fish heads? Fish heads! Rollie-pollie fish heads? In your guts! Hmmm...?

I can't believe that DC is going the Zombie route that Marvel did. It was dumb for Marvel and dumb for DC.

Regarding Frank's comment, I'm no expert on the Blackest Night stuff but the belt symbol, replacing the Aqua-A, is the symbol for the Black Hand: a triangular palm and five fingers. I guess all the undead characters will have that symbol incorporated into their costumes.

Wow, this is wrong on SO many levels. (sigh)

Like Rob, I hope we end up with a living, breathing viable Aquaman at the end of this, but unlike Rob I don't think I'll buy it. (Unless you guys let us know that Artie is, in fact, back).
I just seriously don't want to give Dan Didio any more of my money than I have to, ya know?

Ugh... Just makes me sad that THIS is how they choose to use Aquaman.

I am sure TONS of thought went into it: "Who's dead that we can use?"... "Uh, Aquaman, I think."... "Cool, use him."

I, too, hope we get the real Aquaman back when all is said and done, but hang on to your seahorses, it's gonna be a rough journey.

The main reason why I'm buying it, even though I swore off the big multi-issue crossover events, is that I feel this series will end up being so important to Aquaman's history that I can't not cover it here.

So, DC, congrats, you got me on this one...

I'm onboard simply because I have been reading Green Lantern, and The Blackest Night has been in the "set up" process for a while now.

I'm thinking that this storyline is going to be a much better crossover than Final Crisis (which unfortunately, won't be hard).

I'm just hoping that it clears up loose ends. I have a feeling that it might be Artie Joe since he is technically a zombie anyhow. In Sword #51 they have the funeral for the Dweller (original Aquaman), but a few issues later his body disappeared after it was noticed that he was completely converting to the healing water.

We'll see, but I am looking forward to it with an open mind and a positive attitude.

Yeah...I won't be picking this up. Yeah, the GL books have been great lately, (even though I'm not spending my money to read modern mainstream comics anymore, I do occasionally check out a TPB from the library) I just can't imagine this book treating Aquaman right. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm sure that the GL crew will do something interesting with the whole Black Lantern (BL?) thing they've set up, but let's face it...Aquaman deserves more than a bit part, and my gut tells me that's all he's going to get. He deserves his own event to herald his return, but instead, IF he even comes back in one piece, I bet it's going to be tacked onto the end of this story.
