JLA Calendar - 2009

Since we're just starting 2009, this seems like as good a time as any to post pics of this, a 2009 Justice League Calendar!

Its a very handsome product, and features most of the big name JLAers getting their own month (Aquaman gets April, as you can see, in a nice shot drawn by Ty Templeton, I think), adorned by stock art shots by Jose Luis Garcia Lopez.

For some reason, this calendar isn't available commercially here in the States, but a copy of it was obtained for me F.O.A.M. member Russell Burbage. Thanks Russell!

If I wanted to be picky, I could complain that Aquaman should've gotten his logo on the front of the calendar, in place of, say, The Flash's (sorry Dix), but let's just be happy Aquaman got his own month in the first place, shall we?

Aquaman's logo replacing that of the Flash? Ahem. Well, Rob, I've still got a bit of holiday cheer leftover from the New Year so I'm willing to let this one slide. As you say, I'm just pleased to see that the sea king gets his own month in the calendar!

Not that I'm complaining, but I'm surprised DC's international merchandising department allowed a 2009 calendar with what appear to be 1981 characters. There was a time they would have been a lot more fussy about that sort of thing.

I'd love to have that calendar. The early 80's was a great time for the JLA.

Beautiful!

Templeton? Possibly. Looks kind of like Ordway to me.

Definitely Jerry Ordway.

If this calendar isn't available in the USA, then where is it available? It looks great and I would love to have one.

I got mine from a UK seller on ebay. I will go home and see if there is a dot.com address on it somewhere that you can order it directly.

It features two pics each of Superman, Batman (one with the Batman Family), Flash, and WW, and then one each of Aquaman, Green Lantern, Green Arrow, Martian Manhunter, Hawkman/Hawkwoman. Plus the cover picture is featured again in the mid-section double-spread. I was especially surprised to see Katar & Shayera and J'onn. It's really pretty cool.

The one drawback is that the weeks start on Monday and end on Sunday (see pic of Aquaman for verification) which is a tad confusing.

Beautiful calendar...look how bright and happy the League looks! Aquaman's page looks pretty darn nice, and he looks pretty heroic and kingly in that top shot.

Crud! Must have. At least the dollar isn't so weak against the pound anymore. Amazon UK.

What would you call a five-pointed trident? A quindent?

After 25 years, the 1982 style guide by Jose Luis Garcia Lopez is still going strong and still going around.
