Breaking News

sgNewest F.O.A.M. member Jeff Baab emailed me to point out this interview with DC head honcho Dan Didio that ran in yesterday's edition of The Los Angeles Times.

The piece centers mostly on Aquaman(!), and there are a bunch of interesting nuggets of info in there, plus one comment that made me want to slam my head against a wall. See if you can figure out what it was!

In any case, interesting stuff for all us Aqua-Fans. Thanks Jeff!

It was another interview with DiDio I read recently that had me slamming my head against the wall with its vague, disquieting references to the impending resurrection of Arthur during the upcoming Blackest Night story arc. Aquaman as a zombified Black Lantern? I'm going to be having nightmares about that for a long time. Say it isn't so!

See...this is Aquaman's problem, and it has been for a very long time. DC doesn't get or respect him. I'm sure some of those writers leaning across the table really COULD fix the sea king, but how many more would repeat past mistakes, and how much more likely is it that DC's editors would kill yet ANOTHER book?

"That be said, I do enjoy the character. That's why I'm writing about him for the holiday special...that and the fact that I drew the short straw. [Laughs]"

That comment? Didio is idiot spelled sideways.

farsider-

yep, that was it.

if writing Aquaman is such a chore, he could've asked me to write it.

i would've asked all my writer friends (including people who have actually written the character before!) and come up with a humdinger of an Xmas Aquaman story, and i would've paid DC to do it!
