"Oh, I've Wasted My Life"

I normally wouldn't run a YouTube clip here on the Shrine, but on the occasion of tomorrow's release of Simpsons:The Movie, I thought this intersection of the show and Aquaman(the first of three so far!) was too good to pass up:

Ah, one of my favorite characters and one of my favorite scenes... You're from two different worlds! I have indeed wasted my life.

Hilarious! When I think of the Comic Book Guy, I immediately think of this scene. (That, or another episode in which he comments that one hundred tacos should be "adequate sustenance for the Doctor Who marathon.").

This was a nice choice on the eve of the release of The Simpsons movie. I only wish there was a YouTube clip posted of that scene in which Springfield school children ponder whether or not the new monorail is faster than the Flash!

i thought it AMAZING and serendipitous that i found the exact rightly timed clip to post--you get the set-up, the Aquaman joke, and then the pay-off, and then you're out!

there are 2 more Aquaman refs on the show, but this one made me howl with laughter when it first aired.

"Can Superman outrun the Flash?"

"Eh, sure, why not?"

Oh man, that's classic. I know that most comic book nerds have felt that sentiment at one point or another... I know for me it came while cleaning out the mountains of X-books I cought when I was in my tweens...

Great clip, rob!

I never saw this episode but I do remember feeling like that from time to time. Once I gave away much of my collection to friends. Now I wish I had them back. Comics are not a waste of time. However, if you aren't making a living off of them then you should not take them so seriously but just have fun.
