A Special Greeting from Aquaman - 2007

sgI had the very special privilege of interviewing actor Norman Alden, who as any self-respecting Aquaman fan (?) knows, was the voice of the Sea King on the first three seasons of The Super Friends!

As just a wee lad, I absolutely obsessed with the SF show--as far as I know, it might have been the first time I saw these great heroes, even before the comics. So to me, Norman Alden simply is Aquaman (there he is, far right, with the rest of the Super Friends cast).

After seeing my appearance in Entertainment Weekly last week, Mr. Alden's agent contacted me wondering if I would like to interview him. I offered to do the interview via email so it might be more convenient for him, but his agent (named Ilko) said "Nah, Normie's a voice guy. He'd love to talk." Thrilled yet terrified, we agreed to talk on Friday, February 2nd.

And so we did, covering all different phases of Mr. Alden's long career. I'm still working on breaking up the hour-long interview into listenable chunks for the blog, but until then I thought I'd start with this--simply click the shot of Aquaman on the right to hear the greeting the Sea King recorded especially for the Shrine! I love it so much it's taking up permanent residence here on the front page.

Holy Poseidon!

Every day when I visit the Aquaman Shrine, I have to click that link to listen to the special greeting from Aquaman himself. Holy Poseidon, but that is the coolest!

I just noticed something...I think.

Is Olan (Batman) Soule flipping the bird? That guy was the choir leader in Mayberry! It can't be!!!

upon closer inspection of a bigger shot of the pic...I THINK HE IS!!

maybe he's channeling the Dark Knight-era Batman...

Okay, not to keep posting in this, but who in this photo is the voice of Superman, Danny Dark? And which lady voiced Wonder Woman (her name escapes me...Shannon something?)?

Danny Dark is, improbably, the hippie-ish guy to the right of Casey Casem. i was sure it was the Very Handsome Man crouching at bottom. THAT GUY WAS SUPERMAN!

what you can learn on the internet!
