Mammoth Annual

A few days ago on Brian Cronin's Comic Book Legends Revealed column, he posted some stuff about how Aquaman had never appeared on a comic book cover before Brave and the Bold #28, the debut of the JLA--almost twenty years after he debuted in 1941.

But! As some Aqua-Fans know, that statistic only stands for American comic books. He often appeared on the covers to Australian reprint collections in the 1950s, like what you see above. The Shrine has posted a few of these before, and they're always very fun and festive, again like what you see above. Maybe the Golden Age Aquaman had a bigger following down under than he did in his home country?

I love that! Silent Knight, Pow-Wow Smith, Robin Hood and Hopalong Cassidy(!) riding in a sleigh with the Super Friends. Awesome!

Speaking of which, is this the first time we've seen the classic 5 Super Friends in one place?
