Merdo says he needs a better host body than Topo's, and he's chosen Aquaman's to do the job! Not happy with that news, the Sea King tries to force the mask off Merdo, but it won't budge. Then Aquaman tries getting some whale pals to give it a shot, but:

...and so ends another adventure for Aquaman and Aqualad!

I am flat out declaring: Merdo the Wizard and his Helmet of Hate has to be brought back, period. Jeff Parker, get on this immediately!

Ramona Fradon was/is so wonderfully gifted at making even the silliest concept look cool. I mean, this is an octopus wearing a sentient, talking metal helmet, and I can't get enough.

The boat the possessed-Topo attacked was named the "SS Minnow"? So is Topo why the "three hour tour" wound up getting shipwrecked on Gilligan's Island (at least on Earth-1)? :-p

Elsewhere on Earth-1...

Re: the World's Finest: two crooks disguised as the Dynamic Duo trick Dr. Carter Nichols into using his time ray (the upgraded/more plausible Silver Age version of his old "time-travel hypnosis" means) to send them to medieval Europe, where they lure Superman across the time barrier to a death trap. Yeah, strange as it sounds. :-p

Yeah, lot of fun this one. Exciting and cute at the same time.

Oddly enough, Topo's "Iron Mask" looks a bit like the real "Man in the Iron Mask" that Superman, Batman and Robin met in WF #82.

Is it just me, or does the masked Topo look like a Doctor Who villain? Or Chthulu as accessorized by Tony Stark?
