Justice League Plate by John Bolton

F.O.A.M.er Ilke Hincer is superb at finding Aquaman-related items on eBay and sending links along. Often as not, it's something I've never even seen before, and I like to think I'm an expert on this stuff!

This plate is one of those pieces, a collector's piece featuring the 1990s JLA drawn/painted by John Bolton, the only time I can think of this superb artist has ever handled the characters. Has anyone ever collected plates? They seem like a really fragile thing to get into, as well as hard to store, hard to display, and kinda pricey.

Thanks Ilke!

Wow, that one is new to me too.

I have a few plates. A Silver Age JLA plate by Alex Ross, JLA at Christmas by Ross, Bronze Age JLA by Brian Stelfreeze, and Teen Titans by Ross. They are a bit of a pain to display without worrying about them getting broken, especially with two kids running through the house, jarring them constantly. :-)

Wow, if I had known you had never seen this, I would have sent a picture years ago! I was given one as a gift at least ten years ago, probably longer. I have it displayed with another I was given, one with the classic Aquaman riding Storm. And yeah, with kids about it is best to keep them safely high up and out of reach.

Here is a link to a picture of the other plate online, since I am not home to take my own:

I have this one, too. To display plates, you get these wire holders and put them up high. They are a bit of a pain to keep dusted, but otherwise they make nice wall art.

I like Bolton's Wonder Woman because it looks like his work. The rest might as well have been repainted by Carl Critchlow, since they all look like late '90s meatheads. Plus, they left off my guy, so...
