Aquaman and The Others #1 cover by Ivan Reis, Joe Prado & Rod Reis
Today is a big day in Aquaman history: DC Comics has officially announced Aquaman and The Others, marking the first time ever the Sea King will headline two titles in ongoing publication! We've been teasing a "The Others" series ever since one of our early conversations with Ivan Reis and Joe Prado so it's nice to see it finally made official. It's worth noting that by adding "Aquaman and" to the title DC makes the distinction between a franchise and a spin-off, indicating their vote of confidence in Aquaman's ability to carry multiple titles at once. Aquaman and The Others launches on April 2 and will be written by our friend Dan Jurgens with art by Lan Medina!

Hmmm...how are comic shop owners reacting to two Aquaman titles each month?

No Vostok?
Psht... dasvidaniya!
As I do with most good things that happen to Aquaman, I give partial credit to Rob and The Shrine for yet another Aquaman success.
Glad there's so much faith in Aquaman that he's being given two titles for the first time ever, but the second title should be a Mera monthly. Being that I'm an Aquaman zombie and my interest in this is close to zero, I can't imagine a long life for this one.
Hey look! It's Aquaman and a bunch of characters that no one cares about!
It's awesome that Aquaman is headlining two books. That is really fantastic news for the character, and the fact that the Others aren't terribly popular isn't really a strike against them. No, the strike against them is that they aren't terribly interesting.
I hope that this book does well, purely for the benefit it might provide Aquaman, but I also can't imagine it long enduring. I'm rather fearful that DC, being so very brilliant in their running of their company, will see a failure of this book as evidence of a failure of Aquaman as a character, despite the clear indication of his viability that the last year several years have provided.
I can't believe all these AquaFans are such Debbie Downers. Love this news! The Others are great characters and I can't wait for the continuing adventures of Aquaman And The Others.
Could not be more thrilled about the news, this 2nd title is such a great way to expand the seemingly dual role possibilities of the Aquaman universe, the surface superhero team/solo adventures and the King of Atlantis fixation that the DC Editors have... the later which (IMO) should be better used to explore the city's peculiarities, the people's idiosyncrasies, etc. like it was explored visually (by Yvel Guichet) during the Water (hand)bearer version of Aquaman.
I can't wait for this either! Such good news for Aquafans. The Others have deserved a series right after their first story in Aquaman Vol. 2
I just wish DC had stacked the creative team a little better. Dan Jurgens isn't exactly a name that will attract readers who wouldn't normally read an Aquaman book and I am really bummed they picked an artits that nobody has heard of. Brett Booth got The Flash but would have been perfect for A&TO.
I'm thinking, at the very least, this will give Aquaman a lot more land time. I don't mind him in water, but I know that sometimes limits his appeal.
WOOT!
Just the name of this reminds me a lot of "Batman and the Outsiders." Just imagine, Arthur achieving a Batman-like status at DC...
Chris
Kudos to DC for giving such a diverse group as The Others a chance.
I stand corrected! Maybe the group has a chance after all! :P
