This drop-dead gorgeous house ad forShowcase #32 is the work of DC in-house designer Ira Schnapp; who is on the short list of people I would go back and visit if I had a time machine. These DC ads of the 50s and 60s were always jammed to the hilt with text, yet Schnapp had a knack for designing a page that never seemed crowded and always led the eye in an easy, pleasing, yet exciting way--how could you not buy this comic??

Yes, you gotta love Ira Schnapp...although I didn't know who he was until Dial "B" for Blog did that series years ago.
I always think of the JLA "Just Imagine..." ads when I think of this era. This one has a lot in common with that. As a graphic designer I struggle daily with cramming in copy in an eye-pleasing manner. I need to try and channel Ira more often!
