Splash Page Saturday: Brave and the Bold #32

sg
The Aquaman Shrine was a big fan of this issue of Brave and the Bold #32 when it came out back in 2010. Not only was the story gangbusters, but the art by Jesus Saiz was a perfect fit--as was the coloring job by Trish Mulvihill, whose moody tones help set the tone. If you ever wondered what an Aquaman comic as written by H.P. Lovecraft would look like, this is as close as you're gonna get!

I've always thought some great serpent type creature, ancient and evil, lying at the bottom of the sea, would make a fantastic villain for Aquaman. We got hints of a pretty fascinating evil civilization in Tad Williams brief run (I'd give a lot to see what he could have done with the real Aquaman and more time), and I would really like to see something with this type of flavor make it into a modern day Aquaman.

Great stuff. Imagine being the guy there in the water, looking up and seeing those two looking down at you!

I had to buy a couple of copies of this issue when it came out. Good story and team up.

This is such a fantastic issue. I particularly loved the return of Aquaman's classic suit (black undies) for this story. I think I picked this up at a Borders after seeing it on the rack. Really great pairing of characters.
