This was fun! Keep bringing them back please!
I loved how the one trader sounded like Peter Lorre in the Conan story.
As far as the Riddler, I know you mentioned that there were no credits for the voice cast, but I would swear that was Howard Morris (Ernest T Bass on the Andy Griffith Show). He did a lot of voice actiong, from the Flintstones and Archie's in the 60s to Garfield in the 90s
Yay! More power records!
Boo on this! I've waited nine weeks to hear you review AQUAMAN #20, Rob!
This kind of last-minute schedule/hosting changes are killing this podcast and have me seriously considering taking my desire to hear Aquaman and Firestorm discussion to another show.
I have several Batman Power Records...but not this one! I prefer the Batman and Robin voice actors from the LP featuring "Robin Meets Man-Bat", but the story was great. Like a serious version of a 60s Batman TV tale.
Not a big Conan fan, but the story was fun. I'd love to see the comic. It's Neal Adams after all!!!
Please give us more! Heck start a separate podcast for this! If you ever get around to "Robin Meets Man-Bat", I'm hereby volunteering to cohost that one with you. It rocked my 4-year old world.
Chris
Not a fan of the Power Records podcasts, as evidenced by requiring a month and a half to bother listening and comment this time.
Worst Conan voice ever. The actor sounds like he's in a low rent 50s/60s swords & sandals epic instead of the low rent 70s/80s sword & sorcery epic I expect from Conan. It reminds me of the voiceover done to the Lou Ferrigno Hercules movies to make them sound like Steve Reeves at a time when everyone wanted Arnold Schwarzenegger and bloodied boobies.
Were the traders supposed to be gross Yellow Peril holdovers?
Man, I hate it when sci-fi gets in my barbarian fare, like chocolate-covered kippers. You can't disembowel a robot, and how did Conan know what wires were, anyway? They have a lot of transistors in Cimmeria? Way to neuter the property for the kids. It reminds me of the troll doll style figure I had of noted child murderer Fred Krueger. The lecture the alien gives also reminded me of the worst leftist period propaganda.
If I saw a banner that read "What makes a car go," I'd assume it's an Exxon ad, not a riddle. But then, I'm not from Gotham City. Playing the Riddler as a quasi-Joker with that shrill voice did not improve my disposition toward this endeavor. I did enjoy Batman's surprisingly morbid lime "We die a little earlier."
Rob, you found both of these stories creepy? What a little wuss. No wonder you gravitated toward Porpoiseman.
