Orin The Dolphin

sg
This is Orin the Dolphin, a Real Life dolphin named after Aquaman, King of the Seven Seas!

Orin resides at the Indianapolis Zoo, born there on July 12, 2012. Click here to read the write-up on the little guy, where the zoo even namechecks The Atlantis Chronicles!

Several FOAMers alerted me to this story in the last couple weeks, but Shawn Brock (who named his son Orin) was first. In fact, digging through my emails reveals that Shawn sent me this story back in September, but that email somehow slipped through the cracks and I totally forgot about it. Bad Aquaman Shrine! Bad! Bad!

We've always alleged that Aquaman, despite the ups and downs of his comic book career, has always maintained a firm and highly visible place in pop culture, and stories like this only reinforce that belief. Plus, dolphins are awesome.

Thanks Shawn!

That is really cool. I'm more a fan of Arthur Curry than Orin, but a Dolphin named after Aquaman is neat no matter how you slice it.

Thanks for the shout-out, Aquaman Shrine! We're so glad you love Orin and his name as much as we do. In case you haven't already seen it, we put up this (http://bit.ly/TXQybe) video of our little aqua man last month. Enjoy!

This is such an awesome story and what a beautiful dolphin! I also love the name Orin as Aquaman's real name (although Arthur Curry is cool too).

Cheers, Michael
