AQUA-PUNCH!!!!

(That should be your tag for every episode of this podcast from now on)

Thanks for the commentary, guy. You hit upon my two favorite bits in the special: Abin Sur's corpse being mauled by bears, and Wildcat versus Darkseid.

I've grown terribly fatigued with the, to be kind, "brisk" pacing on Aquaman and it's excess of pin-ups. I'm dropping the book because of this. That said, the team of Reis-Prado-Reis is far and away the best in comics, and I hung on as long as I did because the book was so damn pretty. They were absolutely perfect on Aquaman, and I think it's kind of a shame that perfection will be diluted across seven characters on a lousy team book.

Eddie Barrows is an artist that I've enjoyed looking at who has been very consistent in not working on books I'm willing to read (though I came close with New 52 Nightwing.) The right writer and Barrows could bring me back to the book after my skipping the Ocean Master arc, and sustain the momentum of the book's relaunch.

Am I the only one who was woefully underwhelmed by the Robot Chicken Special? I'm a big fan of the show, but I got the distinct impression that, since WB/DC were actively promoting the special, they were held back by certain parameters. It really felt to me that the jokes were too safe to really be all that funny.

I'm also not a big fan of how Aquaman was portrayed. Geoff Johns has been on the front lines for over a year now, trying desperately to convince people that Arthur isn't this gutless, wimp, joke of a character, yet that is exactly what we got in this special. I can see why it was done (Aquaman has consistently been portrayed that way on the show since its inception), but I was very disappointed by it.

Firestorm came across as a bad ass, though. Go figure!

I assume Shag(g) will be buried with his prized Hal Jordan Birthday card. I received the exact same card for my Birthday from my mom. It rocks!

And for the record, there was a slew of GL merchandise that came out in support of the movie. The sheer amount of available action figures was staggering, and get this, they even sold well! I know, I know. Totally shocking.

Haters.
