I've always wondered just what was the criteria for the animals Aquaman could communicate with/command? I mean, could he make Michael Phelps go eat at Burger King, since he's in the water all the time? What about a land turtle?
For awhile there in the 80's, he could even affect humans to a limited degree because they had evolved from fish. I don't think that's the case anymore. I always though sea birds were a bridge too far for his powers, but I guess if he can affect mammals, why not birds? Just don't tell Hawkman!
Why not indeed! And other mammals as well. I'm sure there's more similarity between the brains of a seal and a wolf than a seal and a sea eagle. Or a puffin. He should be commanding animals all over the place. Unless the telepathy is magic-based; that would be understandable. Magic can be quite arbitrary.
