DC Animated Anthem Day!

As most of you know, this is the opening credit sequence from the classic 1960's Aquaman animated show, part of the Superman/Aquaman Hour of Adventure, produced by Filmation! Stirring, ain't it?

And here's the opening credits to the full show, featuring Superman and Aquaman essentially as equals(!) plus members of the Justice League!

Today comic blogs from all across the web are posting similar videos; here's a list of the other participating DC-centric sites:

The Superman/Aquaman opening's quite a catchy tune... and yep, the two get co-star billing! :-)

I've never heard the word "Aquaman" pronounced quite the way Ted Knight does it. :)

I love how Aquaman swims right at you, fists first! Sweet jumping on seahorse action! DC, let the Sea King do water punches already! Vuu-vuu-vuu-vuu-vuu!

Dig all the "super-super heroes!"

In my memories at least, that Superman-Aquaman show was what instilled in me my love of comics, and of Aquaman in particular. "Bold and daring, King of the Seven Seeeeeas!"

After all these years I had forgotten the less-than-goodness of that JLA theme tune. Try to imagine how effective those tightly-edited fast-paced visuals would have been with appropriate background music. We need another Michael Kohler to come along and rescore it, to demonstrate how badass it could have been!

This Animated Anthem Day is genius. I have spent the afternoon surfing from one character site to the next. I even joined in the fun by posting the Saturday Morning Watchmen on my blog. Seriously, great work guys!
