Teen Titans Ad - 1966

sg
Poor Garth has been getting even less attention than usual around these parts lately, so I thought we'd give him a little moment to shine today, with the groovy Teen Titans subscription ad from 1966.

Ten issues for only a dollar! Dig it, hep-cats!

I was looking for old stuff from ...nurgh... to post at DC Bloodlines last night, and I swear it came down between this ad and a Madam Fatale bio. Glad it broke the way it did, or we'd be wearing the same dress to the party...

Cool old ad, but... I don't see a box to check to actually ORDER the Teen Titans comic book there!

Joe--Good catch!

I think you were supposed to mail in the whole page (gadzooks!) and it was understood you were subbing to the book pictured above. DC ran this same type of ad for a lot of their titles.

Awk-ward!

Maybe we can make April Aqualad/Temperst/Garth's month... if February was Mera's.

I second an Aqualad April.

I sure loved the original Teen Titans when I was a kid. Even though those Haney stories were incredibly goofy, they were never boring.

I think two factors attracted me to them. The fact that it was recently cancelled when I started collecting as a kid gave them a mysterious quality. I had to constantly hunt for back issues. And, Nick Cardy's art was always fantastic.

It's always so fun when that bunch of early '60's button-down Establishment men (as later folks like Adams described them)try to "rap" all "now" with the "kids"!

(Of course, it wasn't just DC - King Kirby was a hoot when he attempted that, too!)

"Delivered straight to your cell"?

Wow! DC was really ahead of its time!

Actuall, this month should be Aqualad's month, as his birthday was established as being March 6 ;)

I love me some classic Titans, corny dialog and all! Haney and Cardy rocked it.
