DC Comics.com "Popular Characters"

sg
I saw this little graphic on the revamped DCComics.com the other day, and my first (and only) response is...it's about damn time!

We're living in a golden age.

Yep. And yet the Shrine's audience is down, has been for months. Amazing, ain't it?

For Aquaman, it's a golden age, for DC...no comment.

BUT, it's good to see Aquaman get his due. I notice that he is up front with Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and Flash during the "DC Nation" commercial breaks on Cartoon Network. That's pretty cool too.

Rob--I guess my theory on that is this was once the only place for people to go for Aquamania. Now that he's in multiple titles a month again, the rabidness of his fanbase has decreased a little.

David-

Yep.I bet some people said "Mission accomplished!" and now don't need the Shrine to get their regular dose of Aquaman.

We still love the site, Rob.

Noticed the Martian Manhunter apparently isn't a "popular character" (despite being a founding JLAer like the other six listed). :-p Is he playing much of a role in the "New 52"/been made more "x-treme" like the rest of the books' tone?

I still need my daily Shrine fix, rob!. You know all of us hardcore fans are here every single day. :-)

Anthony--he's not a JLA founder anymore, Cyborg is. J'onn's been sent off to obscurity as a founding member of Stormwatch, the Wildstorm property, I guess to lend it some cred.

@Barry and Orin's Dad-

I hope it doesn't sound like I was whining. I just found it ironic that now that Aquaman is a big comic book star, the Shrine is LESS visited than before. Its counter-intuitive.

@David: Yeah, I was thinking historically, vs the "New 52 only" current focus. In that case, where's Cyborg's picture under "popular characters"? :-p

David J. Cutler said...

"Popular characters who actually have a solo book for now anyway" :P

Too bad he's last on that list. I'd wager he's currently more popular than Flash.
And I'm still here, Rob. Love the site!

martian manhunter has always sucked and always will suck. cyborg was cool... in the '80s.

why does superman look like a teenager in a boy band? aren't clark kent and bruce wayne at least in their mid-30s? so friggin' lame!
