No offense to Paul Kupperberg, but I always thought Aquaman was a bit too whiny here. I know a beastly Superman just grabbed him, but he's the King, baby!!!
No apologies necessary to Paul, since he didn't write the first SP series, which this is from. The script is credited to Jack Kirby and Joey Cavalieri.
Oops, sorry. I should have checked that first! Well, my apologies to Cavalieri then. I liked the SP series otherwise, but this just always stuck out to me as beneath Aquaman (or any Justice Leaguer, really).
You know, I think it's the "NO!" that does it. Kind of like the folks upset over Darth Vader's "NO!" added to ROTJ. The "He's...GOT ME!" doesn't help either. But the rest could work, and still keep Arthur's dignity.

Oh, absolutely. This is Top 10 one of Aquaman's most embarrassing moments. That's why I couldn't resist.

It looks like he's getting a really awkward massage. But like it's been stated — he's the king, so you know he's really tense in his shoulders. :)
Weird choice ;/
