The Aquaman Shrine's Best of 2011: Triptych by Reis/Prado/Reis

sg
The Shrine's experience at the 2011 New York Comic Con was spectacular. Not only did we get to meet two of the three of the superstar artists currently producing the new best-selling Aquaman book, but they embraced us with such warmth and generosity that it felt like the culmination of some childhood dream, back when I was reading Aquaman comics for the first time.

One of the examples of that generosity was a limited edition oversized print of the cover of Aquaman #1, featuring the pencils of Ivan Reis, inks by Joe Prado, and colors by Rod Reis (the latter two we interviewed just today!), signed by all three and given to me by F.O.A.M.er Ivan Costa, who was there representing Ivan Reis (who sadly couldn't make it). I was deeply touched by the gift, and couldn't wait to show it off on the Shrine! This post originally ran on October 18

Not too long after I stopped at "Aqua-Corner", F.O.A.M.er Ivan Costa reached into a portfolio and handed me this, a 12x17" print representing each member of the current Aquaman team--Ivan Reis pencils, Joe Prado inks, Rod Reis colors, and signed by all three!

Ivan told they only printed and signed ten copies of this triptych, and were giving one to the Shrine. I was very flattered by this act of generosity, and of course proud as well. I thanked Ivan profusely, and then went on a hunt to find a rubber band so I could roll this thing up to keep it from getting damaged as I walked the con floor.

There are a couple more awesome NYCC stories, all coming later this week!
