Top 100 Selling Comics - October 2011

sg
F.O.A.M.er Ryan Daly, in an email to the Shrine, pointed out something interesting about October 2011's sales figures (via Diamond)--not only did Aquaman #2 come in at #18 (ahead of such other books like Uncanny X-Men, The Amazing Spider-Man, and Green Lantern Corps), but Aquaman #1 also placed on the list, at #88! That means the Sea King had two issues of his own title in the Top 100-selling comics of October!

Or, as Ryan put it, "
What I think is far, far more telling is that Aquaman #1 ranked 88 of the Top 100 in October. Yes, Aquaman had TWO of the Top 100 books in October. That means word-of-mouth buzz is definitely working for the Sea King as a lot of people would have had to come back and pick up the issue after it was originally released, possibly 2nd printings. Only two other first issues that came out in September made the list for October, Green Lantern #1 and Detective Comics #1, neither of which sold as much as Aquaman."

Pretty amazing stuff, no? Thanks for the info and analysis Ryan, and of course to Geoff Johns, Ivan Reis, Joe Prado, and Rod Reis for creating an Aquaman book that has really tapped into something special. The Shrine has always stated that Aquaman, if given a decent chance by DC, could catch fire with readers. Glad to see we were right, let's hope it stays that way!
