Aquaman #6 February Solicit

sg
Mera, the Queen of the Seven Seas is in the spotlight of this special issue which features pencils and inks by our good friend and Team Aquaman super-star artist: Joe Prado!

Way back in early 2009 when Geoff Johns was doing promo for Blackest Night he referenced the series would feature an as-yet-unnamed female character teasing fans with "She’s one of the strongest and most recognizable characters in the DC Universe, and yet she hasn’t been in the spotlight for a very long time. But she will be now." Long time Aquaman fans instinctively knew exactly who Johns was talking about and since her return in Blackest Night, Mera has catapulted from obscurity to fan-favorite status, subsequently appearing in DC's biggest event-books including Brightest Day, Emperor Aquaman, Flashpoint, and now of course in the best-selling Aquaman ongoing series!

We here at the Aquaman Shrine couldn't be happier about Mera's new-found popularity and hope this Sea Queen-centric issue will introduce her to even more new fans. With Mera scheduled to appear in DC's flagship Justice League title in 2012 as well, do we dare hope for anything more?!? Mera (Don't call me Aquawoman!) the mini-series anyone?

Mera mini-series...? This team could pull it off.

Well the AQUAMAN team may be too busy to pull off an additional mini-series but what about MERA series written & drawn by TEMPEST creator Phil Jimenez?

Can you say BOOM?!?

Is this Mera's first-ever solo cover?

I would want to see Peter Milligan write a Mera mini-series. Not only would it tie in to Aquaman but it could also tie into Red Lanterns, of which Mera was one kinda/sorta.

As far as artists go, Jim Calafiore isn't doing much these days, with Secret Six having been cancelled. I always liked his artwork on Aquaman so he'd be a good choice.

@Joe--No. She had at least one solo cover during David's run--#12.

Ah, thanks Rob. Forgot about that one!
