The All-New Super Friends Hour: Episode 12

sg
It's time for another episode of The All-New Super Friends Hour!

First up, Batman, Robin, Wonder Woman take on a gang of mutants from space and a power-mad scientist in "Forbidden Power." In the Safety segment, Aquaman helps teach a young kid about how to keep his toys in good condition, to avoid an accident where you could die a horrible, protracted death:

Aquaman carries a bag of tools in his Aqua-Scooter, who knew?

After the Wonder Twins rescue a junior daredevil, Wonder Woman presents the episode's de-coder clues. Next is all of the Super Friends in "The Lion Men":
sg
Deep in space, a group of aliens have met to work out some of intergalactic trade. A representative from the Lion Men offers something for everyone, and when he's asked where he's going to get all this valuable material, he says he plans to strip it from some little backwater called...Earth!

Naturally, the Super Friends don't take too well to a bunch of aliens trying to rip up the planet, but they are held off by the aliens' powerful weapons. And I mean, really powerful:
sg
Now, Hanna-Barbera was not doing kids any favors showing this; and letting them believe that the Earth could undergo this and still be relatively okay. They keep cutting back and forth between these shots and shots on Earth, where the skies are still blue and, you know, its not filled with millions of people on fire. In fact, it looks downright nice!

Anyway, the aliens search for the valuable minerals buried deep across Earth, and the Super Friends split up to stop them. Aquaman is particularly clever, tricking two different alien ships into firing upon one another:
sg
...you got served!

With the help of some scientists, the Super Friends build a reflector that can turn back the aliens' ray to stop the Earth from being ripped apart. Then they sneak aboard the satellite the aliens have control of, and turn the beam off. The aliens are returned home, having received a stern warning from the Super Friends about committing mass genocide for profit.

Batman and Robin perform a magic trick, and the Dynamic Duo teams up with Black Vulcan in the icky "Day of the Rats"!

Aquaman rounds out the episode with a Health segment, teaching some kids how not to get a bad sunburn:
sg
I love Aquaman going around teaching kids various things; I wish he had done that for me when I was a kid.

...and so ends another fun episode of The All-New Super Friends Hour!

Aquaman's presence is decent in the Super Friends adventure; and he gets two filler segments to his own. He's done better, he's done worse!

This episode's Aqua-Content: Medium

Yeah, the amount of damage being rained upon the Earth looks to be on a Thundarr the Barbarian-future level! Sheesh!

Where are their parents while that man is looming over them, rubbing sunscreen on them? That should be a safety segment.
